I read the title and was curious if I somehow missed something. I think you mean 1600cc, or 1.6l. The only difference in the air cooled engines are the cylinder heads, otherwise known as jugs.
If you were to end up in a VW graveyard you could take 3 VW'S and usually drive one away.

These are truly rare, just as the split window van is rare.
The rarity that you really start having an affection for after riding in one is the Syncro bus.

The thing about the old air cooled engines is that they must be adjusted at higher altitudes. When you climb in elevation the air gets thinner and the fuel air ratio changes. You literally have have to turn the fuel ratio screw in order to set the fuel air ratio for higher altitudes. Then when you g...
