Re: 99 DMF life?
If a DMF is fitted it has done well to reach stated mileage. Most newer cars in Europe only seem to reach about 80,000 miles and the DMF packs in. I didn't think DMF's were available in 1999? If it rattles on start up and shut down it's time to pull the box. I have fitted solid conversion kits to ne...

Hi, most likely sorted by now. You can try to reset the linkage putter like part of linkage this usually helps. You can Google this procedure and it's a two minute process. Gary.

Re: 2003 New Beetle 1.8T Convertible - oil sludge experience
Hi, 1.8T VAG's have always suffered with oil sludge issues especially on cars which do frequent short stop start journeys, or have been deprived of oil and filter changes. As previous post mentioned it is vital to use 5W/30 in these engines. The 1.8T has a small volume of oil, only about 4L. The oil...

Re: 2002 1.8 turbo stalls without warning in curves
Agree with previous post as a possibility. Could also be fuel related. When you cut out is your tank below one quarter full? Remove pump from tank and clean pick up mesh. Check for debris in bottom of tank, if found need to clean out. Renew o ring seal and also replace fuel filter (usually seldom ch...

Re: vw fuse 25
Is your cabin air filter plugged? Wet? water could be getting to fan and wiring. check resistance across all 4 speed paths on your resistor pack, and check the thermal fuse as well. Speed 4 bypasses the thermal fuse you could be grounding out here as well. Have found water is responsible a lot of th...

Re: 2003 Passat 2.8 V6 no heat
These are notorious for getting air trapped in the system. It can be difficult to remove this air. The usual hide out is in the heater core. A test for this: set the temp to high with the fan on a low setting. Gently rev and hold at 2000 rpm, as you let off listen for bubbling sound from heater core...

Re: 2004 Passat 1.8t
Hi, if you have suitable diagnostic equipment you can cycle the pump and check for air leaks, very common on this model. If found a used one can be picked up from breakers for approx. 50 euros. Less than one hour to install if you remove the power steering hose (ps fluid is inexpensive) You will spe...

Hi, You Say you have checked bulb and fuse, please re-check, It is likely either the bulb or the fuse. Fuses 18-20 are for low and high and left and right (European model). Check those first. It is a dual filament, so the low and or the high can go out on a single bulb but still leave the other inta...
