Re: 2003 New Beetle 1.8T Convertible - oil sludge experience

I dropped the sump and found very little sludge and the pickup looks unplugged

I'm going to replace the oil pump and clean up what little I found and go from there.

Re: Where are the "bunnies"?

I think Rabbit was a US name for the Golf that was ROW.

I had a 1975 and two 1979s that I loved. One of my 1979s kept getting hit on icy roads in Ithaca NY and I made about 3000 in insurance claims net over its lifetime. I kept driving it without fixing it. Better ROI than any if my stock picks

Re: ABS, Brake Light and Beeping

You need a good, fully charged battery to test out electronics like ABS. Low nominal voltages will screw up in bizarre ways that are really difficult to troubleshoot

Re: ABS, Brake Light and Beeping

POp open the fuse box up front and inspect the wires for thermal damage and corrosion, that can be the source of Low voltage.

What's the voltage across the battery terminals at rest and At idle?

Re: Most common issues

I think with most cars over 10 years old it's much more relevant to look at the maintenance history than 'trends',especially on Internet fora, which bias to failures

Re: VW Cabrio 6 speed auto trans hard shift when warm

Have you scoured the usual suspects for a better price on the parts??

Im seeing solenoid bodys on EEuro for 900 USD

That would price a used one at about 400 plus shipping
