2003 New Beetle Main Electrical Box

I had some trouble with voltage fluctuations and had to clean the terminals on the electrical box - note the damage from overheating from corroded terminals.

Pictures to come

Re: 2002 1.8 turbo stalls without warning in curves

Thats usually something electrical - like a loose ground or bad connector. Ive had minor trouble with electrical connectors on my 2003, had to clean and de-oxidise a few things.

Are any codes coming up or the 'check engine light -(small motor ICON)

2002 Eurovan Resonant Vibration Problem

I solved a funny resonance problem on my 2003, occurring at 2000-2500 rpm, by inspecting my exhaust system and finding the mid-body damper (small square of rubber) was missing from my last OEM warranty muffler install. Its a small piece of rubber, but important to stop exhaust shake in the cabin. On...

Re: 2003 New Beetle 1.8T Convertible - oil sludge experience

My 1.8T has a after-run coolant pump that circulates coolant on shutdown, but my last mile home is a nice 30 mph non-boost road that takes care of the that issue nicely. I do change the oil annually on this car., though. VW changed the oil recommendation to synthetic according to my dealer - I moved...

Re: 1600i

Beetle FIJ was 1975-1979...really good system - there are still a lot of them on the road (for 70s cars of course)

Re: VW's I miss...

First one in my life was a 1966 family car, followed by a long line of Beetles Busses. Rabbits,

My first was a 72 Ghia convertible

Most important was my 1971 Bus that I met SWMBO in.

Re: Jetta Sports Wagon AC

Pressure water gun works well for clogged grill, too. Both my 2002 and 2003 ACs pump out cold on their factory charge...great systems. Check charge at AC shop...I run so many cars now it was cost effective for me to buy the manifold and vacuum gauges. I've now done 3 of my own and 7 neighbors cars.....
