Re: Vanagon Campers

There are a couple of places in Denver you can actually rent one for a few weeks. About 200 per day once you are all done. When you consider thats a hotel room plus car rental, its pretty reasonable.

Re: split window bug

The Split Busses arent that rare - I know of 5 within an hour drive of me and another 3 in backyards. These were made from 1950-1967.

Split Window Beetles were made from (end of war) until 1953 and are rarer than hens teeth.

Probably you could get 100,000 for that car today. Even if it was still wrapped around the pole.

Re: Are old Bug bodies really going for $10k+?

The old VW market is hyper inflated. Its isn't quite as bad as some of the Fora The worst section is the Split Busses - Type I 1950-1967. A rusty body shell missing its pieces can capture anywhere from 20-50k...no engine or transmission. There is a firm which works up Old Vanagons into Campers, rewo...

2003 New Beetle 1.8T Convertible - oil sludge experience

Known as Juliette in our house. Driven sparingly to airport for commute, and in summer. Only have 55k miles on her now. About 2004 I started getting oil pressure warnings at idle, Ambient temp >80F, after hard run, and in second half of oil life. I was running Castrol 10W-40 at time. Blip of throttl...

Access to that connector is a female dog. Its still intermittent so I will chase it in the spring. Code is consistent.

2002 Eurovan here

Bought new - the best vehicle I have ever owned. Has been used as a camper, boat tow beast, sleeping on Cape for work ... :D :D :D and unscheduled maintenance costs of about 700 bucks over 15 years.
