Do you have the active headlamp setup. There is a program that the onboard runs to check the lights.

Thanks kdpike,
This Passat is a 2006 2.0T with very basic equipment, i.e. just lights, no fogs, basic. Thanks

You could try switching the bulbs left to right and see if the problem moves. My Passat has the active headlamps. Which are really neat,
but gets complicated when something is wrong. Automatic leveling and all.

Hi,
You Say you have checked bulb and fuse, please re-check, It is likely either the bulb or the fuse. Fuses 18-20 are for low and high and left and right (European model). Check those first. It is a dual filament, so the low and or the high can go out on a single bulb but still leave the other intact and working. Check the fuse and then check the bulb. Also check bulb holder is clean and tight.

Have recently had a Skoda Octavia (Passat different badge) in work shop with similar issue. Turned out to be a broken wire behind the head light. So I got lucky with a quick fix.

Regards,
Gary.
