VW's I miss...

Post by jgilbystl »

Can't believe I was upset when my Dad brought home a used 3 year old '68 Ghia for my 1st car. Lived in Hawaii at the time and was hoping for a 70 Datsun 510. That car started my passion for VW's that lasted for decades. I've lost count of all the air and water cooled VW's I've owned over the years. I don't own any now, but one of my 20 year old twins is dying to find any early VW. I'm forever on the lookout. Wish you could still get them for a few hundred bucks. My only regret is never finding a Notchback or bus with Safari windows.
VW's are gone but not forgotten...
1968 Ghia - 1st car, 1961 crew cab pick-up - cost me $1100, 1963 23 window, 1959 Bug & 1960 panel van.
Wish I still had them all!

Now that I'm older and more appreciative of "real" cars and the way they were built, over the years I have learned more about the stronger less expensive German and Swedish vehicles realizing that most of what's out there today is junk.

First one in my life was a 1966 family car, followed by a long line of Beetles Busses. Rabbits,

My first was a 72 Ghia convertible

Most important was my 1971 Bus that I met SWMBO in.
