50k Mile Oil Change — Happy Engine!

My Alltrack hit 50k miles, and to celebrate, we did… [drumroll]… an oil change! Here’s the filter I removed. I cut into it to just look around for anything weird, like metal shavings or debris. I didn’t find anything at all.

I even ran a magnet all over this filter, nothing turned up. The 1.8 turbo engine is healthy.

This oil filter was from my oil change at 45k miles. I’m switching to 5k miles intervals from the factory-recommended 10k miles. I don’t trust oil to go that long. So new oil and filter every 5k.

Buy this filter/gasket combo from Amazon and help Alltrack World. Thanks in advance! It’s the same OEM that I use, straight from the VW dealer, but at a discount! Don’t forget the drain plug!

Here’s the Castrol Edge 5W-40 that came in the car from the factory. Messing around with changing the oil type or weight is not something I’m going to do. I do it by the book!

Castrol EDGE SAE 5W-40, what the car came from the factory with. You need two of these, because it takes about 5.5 quarts. Buy them with this link and you’ll save about $6 per jug vs. buying at Wal-Mart (I checked last week).
